Depending on your nationality, you may or may not need
a visa to enter the country. While visa is not required for people traveling from GCC nations,
such as Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, nationals from certain countries,
particularly UK, USA, and Australia, will a get visa on arrival. However, a visa is mandatory
for people who do not fall under any of these categories.
Arabic and English are the official languages in Dubai
but many expats also speak Hindu, Urdu, Bengali, Tamil, Tagalog, Persian, Chinese and Malayalam.
English speaking visitors will find it easy to get by with around 75% of Dubai’s population
speaking English as their first or second language. It can also be helpful to know some basic
Arabic, including ‘min fadlak’ (please), ‘shukrun’ (thank you), ‘marhaba’ (hello) and
‘maasalaamah’ (goodbye or with peace).

The currency used in Dubai is AED (Arab Emirate Dirham)
or Dh. There are a number of ATMs throughout the city for the convenience of travellers. Also,
all major international debit and credit cards are accepted at most shopping malls, hotels and
restaurant.
Perhaps the best thing regarding a visit to Dubai is
the food, as you’ll be delighted by the gamut of dining options available here. From hot spicy

It is strictly prohibited to consume alcohol in Dubai.
With that being said, it is permissible in bars within restaurants, hotels, and nightclubs.
Though tipping is not mandatory in Dubai, it is always
expected. Dh 10-20 is the ideal tipping amount to porters, waiters or bellboys. 10% of the total
bill amount should be given as tip in restaurants and cafes.
Dubai is one of the safest cities in the world. But
make sure to obey the rules and regulation. UAE is a Muslim country, so religious sensitivities
should be taken in consideration.
Being an Islamic nation, the UAE is modest about its
dress code. You can wear shorts but any form of revealing / transparent clothing is considered
inappropriate in public.

It’s easy to obtain a mobile phone connection in Dubai.
All you need to do is to submit a copy of your valid visa/passport to one of the nearest offices
of Du or Etisalat in airport or any shopping mall.
Customers travelling to the UAE are required to pay a
tourism Dirham Fees ( TDF ) directly to the hotel upon check out. The fees are as follows:
AED20.00 per room (20 UAE Dirhams) or bedroom night for stays in 5 star hotels and deluxe hotel
apartments AED15.00 per room (15 UAE Dirhams) or bedroom night for stays in 4 star hotels,
superior hotel apartments and deluxe holiday homes.
